Purchased from the Commonwealth Government's Federal Airports Corporation in 1998, Canberra Airport (CBR) has enjoy sweeping changes since its privatisation. The arrival of the award-winning Brindabella Business Park and the Majure Park, and the redevelopment of the Fairbairn site, has seen the site transformed.
There have also been great improvements to the transport hub, retail outlets, dining opportunities and general facilities. Passengers should note that the terminal at Canberra Airport usually closes just 30 minutes after the last flight of the day has landed, reopening the following morning at 04:30.

An information desk is located in the Central Terminal building, where staff are available to help make your visit stress-free. There is a lost property office onsite for items lost in the terminal. However, for items left onboard your plane, you will need to contact the relevant airline, i.e. Qantas, Tiger Airways or Virgin Blue.

Whether you are looking for a magazine or book to read onboard your plane, or simply in need of sustenance, there are several options to choose between. The Relay newsagents is the principal store and resides within the departures lounge, on the upper level, and is open daily between 05:30 and 21:00. For a cappuccino or espresso, Hudsons Coffee is also sited within departures and serves up a variety of hot and cold beverages, along with sandwiches, pastries and cakes. Asian cuisine is the order of the day at the Tuk Chop restaurant, while at Velluto, on the Lower Level, coffee and snack food help you to pass the time as you wait for your plane to board its passengers, or your loved ones to land.

A Travelex currency exchange outlet is situated on the ground floor of the Central Terminal building, where it is open daily, between the hours of 06:00 and 19:00 and not only provides competitive rates of exchange, but also facilitates international money transfers, deals with travellers cheques, organises Qantas Frequent Flyer points and sells phone cards. An ATM cashpoint machine is located nearby. Next to Gate 5, the Virgin Blue Lounge provides a pleasant place to relax and work.
Canberra Airport meets the needs and expectations of disabled travellers, with its allocated parking, wheelchair-friendly routes and adapted toilet facilities. For any special requirements, you should phone ahead, preferably giving at least 48 hours' notice.
Other facilities at CBR include a baby changing room with lounge areas and microwave ovens, TelstraSmart phone card telephones, an airport lost property desk, first aid facilities, play equipment for young children and luggage trolleys. A viewing gallery on the upper floor of the main departures lounge boasts excellent views of the planes arriving and departing.
