East of the city centre, Canberra Airport (CBR) offers travellers to the Australian Capital Territory (ACT) plenty of ground transport to choose from, should you arrive and choose not to rent your own set of wheels.

Airport transportation serves not only the city of Canberra, but also many of the surrounding suburbs, towns and cities. Buses, shuttles and taxis will allow you to reach your hotel with ease, as well as connecting Braddon, Charnwood, Deakin, Fraser, Gungahlin, Kaleen, Kingston, Narrabundah, Ngunnawal, Queanbeyan and Russell, amongst many further destinations.

Canberra Airport is served by subsidised Airport Express buses, collecting passengers from outside of the main entrance. These buses operate from Monday to Friday, and regular express buses also travel into the city centre (West Row) and Russell (Blamey Square) on an hourly basis. Bus fares are generally considered fairly inexpensive for these short journeys.

Hotel Shuttle

Some hotels provide a convenient door-to-door courtesy shuttle service for guests. Participating hotels include City Backpackers, Novotel Hotel, Quest Apartments, the Crown Plaza Canberra Hotel and the Waldorf Hotel.

Taxis are available throughout the day and night at CBR Airport, being hailed from outside of the main Central Terminal building, on the lower level of the entry road. There are three taxi companies in operation here - Canberra Elite, Cabexpress and Queanbeyan Taxi Co-Op. In the event that no taxis are available, head to the Car Park Management Office. Of note, taxis for disabled passengers with wheelchairs and special needs can also be arranged within the arrival hall.

Limousines

Airport limousines can be booked in advance or from the helpful Ground Transportation Information desks. Limos must always be arranged in advance, so that the driver can meet you upon arrivals. Some 15 different limo firms operate here, such as Brindabella, Canberra Hire Cars, Carwoola Chauffeured Limousines, Citicar, Crowne Chauffeurs, Jetset, Nyala and Silver Service.
